Technology Review #3

This is the image for the website below.  I think it illustrates the website well, almost like they are shouting it out loud.

ABCya.com has free educational computer games and activities for elementary students to learn different skills.  All children's educational computer activities were created or approved by certified teachers. All educational games are free and are taken from primary grade lessons and enhanced to provide an interactive way for children to learn.  Grade level lessons integrate areas such as math and language arts while introducing basic computer skills. Many of the kindergarten and first grade activities are equipped with sound to enhance understanding. Fun holiday activities are available in grade level sections.  ABCya.com’s award-winning games and apps have been featured by Apple, The New York Times, Disney Family Fun Magazine and Fox News.  One feature I really like about this website is the search engines at the top of the home page.  A great way for students or parents to find what they are looking for.  The ads shown on the website pay for it so we do not have to.  I am excited to add some of the apps to my iPhone and iPad for my daughter as well as use them during summer reading program and the upcoming school year.  I like how it is divided into grade levels so you do not have to dig through a ton of inappropriate activities designed for a certain age level.  The games & activities feature large and easy-to-use navigation buttons as well as voice instructions.  Great website for K-5.

  2. Shannon, I think it is really neat that all of the games and activities were created by certified teachers! This sounds like a cite that you can trust to be appropriate for students and relevant to content areas. I visited the sight for myself and I really like how it is easily divided by grade level. I think this is a site that could definitely be used in the classroom or at home.
